Ham & Bean Soup

dry navy beans 1 cup  
water 4 cups  
celery, sliced 1 cup  
carrots, sliced 1 cup  
onion, chopped 1 cup  
ham, cooked 3/4 cup  
water 4 cups  
Ham Redibase 3 teaspoons Low Sodium Ham Base
thyme, dried 1 teaspoon
bay leaf 1 Redibase Ground Bay Leaves
pepper, ground 1/4 teaspoon
   
     
   

Directions:
Combine 4 cups of water and Ham Redibase in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Blend well to make stock and set aside.

Rinse beans; drain. In a large saucepan, combine the beans and 4 cups water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand for 1 hour. (Or skip boiling the water and soak the bans overnight in a covered pan.) Drain and rinse beans.

In soup pot, stir together the beans, Redibase Ham Stock, celery, carrots, onion, ham, thyme, bay leaves and pepper. Bring to boiling. Simmer until beans are tender. Serve.
