Ham Skillet Gumbo

Description: An easy creole gumbo.

Ingredients Amount Variations
cooked ham, diced 2 cups  
green bell pepper, chopped 1 cup  
onions, chopped 1 cup  
okra, cut 1 pk. (10 oz.)  
tomatoes, canned 1 (15 oz.)  
water 2 cups  
Ham Redibase 2 teaspoons Low Sodium Ham Base
black or cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon
rice, uncooked, long grain 1 cup
   
   
     
   

Directions:
In a small sauce pan, combine water and Ham Redibase. Bring to a boil and blend well. Set aside.

Combine all ingredients (except rice): ham, pepper, onions, okra, tomatoes, Ham Stock and black or cayenne pepper in a large heavy skillet; bring to a boil.

Cover and simmer 10 minutes.

Stir in rice and simmer, covered, 20 minutes longer, or until rice is tender.
